This week for reading we learned about hobbies and happiness. We had to make a DLO to display our learning. I made a Google drawing and picked 10 different hobbies and why they could make us happy. Some of learning about hobbies and happiness were that there is many different ways the different hobbies can make you happy. Here is my work that I have made:

Grit Learning

We have been learning about grit and having a mindset this week for reading, We focused on our biggest take away from learning about one person (of our choice) and put that into our brains to then make a DLO about what we had learnt about them having a growth mindset. I decided to pick Anna Steven, she is a Paralympic runner who went through very hard times as she had got her leg amputated but she showed grit by getting back up and pursuing her dreams of being a runner and shes now competing to win a medal! Here is my poster that I have put together for this task:

      I hope you enjoyed,
What where some stand out things you found in my task and what could I improve on?

Reading Wk8 Term2

                                       Article Opinions!

For reading this week we had to go onto Kiwikidsnews to find some articles that we could add our opinion to. I found the articles I read for interesting to read and I learnt many new things. So here is my work and I hope you enjoy my post today.

Deaf Dog Learns sign language Genre: Animals - I think that this is a very important article because it is a really impressive thing to be sharing to the world. One thing I would change is that they didn't really talk about what they are going to do to also help other dogs. They also could tell the steps of how they did it so it could be used with other dogs.

Stars leading close ANZ Netball Championship Genre: Sport - I think that this is a very important article for many people to catch up on while they might not have been able to see it in action. However it does hold very interesting information but could hove more.

Virtual reality headsets trialed to test rugby concussions Genre: Sport - I found this was the most interesting out of all of the ones I read about today. I loved how they really added heaps of information and added how it would work and what it would be used for.

Reading Term2 Wk6

Reading
For reading this week we did a Reading Web. A Reading Web is a source of a way to tell a short summery about the characters in the book and how they were used in the story.  I chose the book smile as I had already known a bit about it. If you don't know what smile is about it's just about and girl who knocked out her front teeth that had a big impact on her. Here is my reading Web but while your reading it can you answer these questions? Who was the main person in the story? Who was the person to get the teeth knocked out? What did the girls friends mum do?

After the spill reading!

After the spill reading

For reading this week we had to read the book After The Spill. Then we had to challenge the text by asking hard thought questions and make people re think about what they were reading about and we needed to ask a lot of in depth questions. Here is my work:

Have you ever read this story?

My Tūranagawaewae

 My Tūranagawaewae

For writing this week we had to write about our Tūranagawaewae other known as "your place to stand" I chose Christchurch as it is were I was born and were I grew up and have the best memories from. I feel like I connect more to Christchurch compared to any other place. It was also a show not tell writing so we couldn't write what our Tūranagawaewae actually was people had to guess!

Here is my summery about my Tūranagawaewae.

My Tūranagawaewae, my place to stand. Salty seas, grainy grounds from the beach water immersing below my feet. Walking dogs with the pier lit up… the warm salty chips against my lips having the view of the waves washing the sea shore. In town with flower gardens, libraries and shops, statues and songs played by people who are here for the joy of the city, native wildlife is everywhere you look, kiwis and plants all around, sun rises and the beach, and looking after the community is really important to us. That is my Tūranagawaewae.

If I didn't tell you what my Tūranagawaewae was what would you have guessed it was?
